A Fantastic Weekend

Things really took a surprsing turn for us this weeked.

First our Soldier Girl (now an E5 so I guess she's Sgt. Girl) called me Thursday afternoon and asked how things were going yada yada yada. This entire month has been real hellish and I was trying to decompress. I was just settling down on the sofa to talk with her when she walks into the livingroom. If I had false teeth I would have dropped them. Turns out she was in MD for some intel training and the class let out early so she drove home. Brat. But she wasn't finished with us.

Turns out Sgt. Girl blew me off yesterday morning (I wanted to go look at lighting and tile for the kitchen) so she could go shopping; instead she drove down to SUNY Oneonta to pick up her sister. They were plotting this all week and the youngest had exams or she would haver come home with her sister on Thursday.

So when they got home the little brat hid out in her room for two hours while I was going over some final prep work with our contractor (she starts our kitchen/dining room remodel on Monday). We were getting ready to go to dinner last night with our daughters and SIL when our youngest walked in the kitchen. The look on my wife's face was precious. Thank God she doesn't have false teeth either.

So we were all together last night for a fantastic meal at a great Italian restaurant. When all four daughters get together things get crazy and last night was no exception. I hope the restaurant (Santangelo's in Liverpool) lets us back. The food was incredible.

Sgt. Girl has to go back to MD to finish her class on Monday and then returns to Ft. Bragg. She'll drop her sister off at school on the way down tomorrow.

Still, a fantastic weekend. The wife and I won't forget this one anytime soon. They're all out shopping now so I'll nap out for a spell.

Dick's Picks

Dick Morris has an interesting explanation for the recent polls showing that Obama has a narrow lead over Romney. From Dick Morris.com (where else?)
1. All of the polling out there uses some variant of the 2008 election turnout as its model for weighting respondents and this overstates the Democratic vote by a huge margin.
And Dick sez: This ain't 2008, Sparky.
[...]polling indicates a widespread lack of enthusiasm among Obama’s core demographic support due to high unemployment, disappointment with his policies and performance, and the lack of novelty in voting for a black candidate now that he has already served as president.
The bloom is off the rose, you hit a giant worm in that bottle of tequila you were slurping and fat Aunt Nettie slid her nicotine-stained tongue halfway down your throat at your birthday party. Life suddenly isn't all that sweet, is it Sparky...
2. Almost all of the published polls show Obama getting less than 50% of the vote and less than 50% job approval. A majority of the voters either support Romney or are undecided in almost every poll.
And Dick sez: An undecided voter ain't your Secret Santa either, Sparky.
But the fact is that the undecided vote always goes against the incumbent. In 1980 (the last time an incumbent Democrat was beaten), for example, the Gallup Poll of October 27th had Carter ahead by 45-39. Their survey on November 2nd showed Reagan catching up and leading by three points. In the actual voting, the Republican won by nine. The undecided vote broke sharply — and unanimously — for the challenger.
Dick Morris ran the polls for Clinton's election campaigns so he might be on to something, no? Add to the mix that a.) the media is desperately pumping up Obama's numbers with b.) Obama is already buying retirement property in Hawaii and things may not be looking so gloomy for November.

Always Blame The Newbies

The City of Ghent, Belgium, has initiated new local ordinances that prohibit prostitutes from appearing:
"...naked, in underwear, in bikinis or in see-through clothes," or of "dancing in windows" or "miming sexual acts,"
The working ladies are allowed to "present their wares" to potential customers in neon lit windows on the street. They just gotta change the wrapping.
Neighbours have been complaining, even the prostitutes themselves, about more and more nuisance in the area, in front of the windows, fights breaking out ...," the mayor said.
One particularly notorious prostitute, Madame Stinky LeFebve, has moved her business back to Amsterdam. She was ejecting pingpong balls from her shaved nuisance at passersby and refused to purchase a paintball permit.
Local newspaper Di Morgen cited one veteran prostitute as saying particularly competitive new arrivals from eastern Europe were behind this cranked-up atmosphere compared to a decade ago.
So no more discount coupons, free key chains or "buy nine and the tenth one's on me!" ticket punching. That's verboden!

Barak's Butcher Shop

Okay Obama, I'll have a few Mexican chops and a ration of Benghazi bacon. And have Hillary throw in a half pound of sliced SEALS and we're done. Wrap it up in paper.

Obama's hands are bloody. Murder N' Mayhem, Inc. run right out of the White House. Operation Fast N' Furious has killed hundreds.

The Ulsterman Report and the White House Insider have a few things to say about this:
That’s the one – tied directly to Fast and Furious – laid out the real intent of all that gunrunning. They wanted things to get f-cked up. They wanted those drug lords killing off each other and if some poor innocent bastards get blown away in the crossfire, all the better, right? Make Americans…make enough of them, hate the idea of gunforever. Be lucky to get a water gun out there after they done with it. And I ain’t talking exaggerations here. The Democrats – ones who control the party now…taking guns away is right at the top of their priorities list. Way up there.
Next up, Ambassador Stevens and several ex-SEALS.
What if that ambassador…well…let’s say he came across certain information…damaging to the administration. Why is he flying into that consulate in Benghazi? Cover of night. No security precautions. Anti-Western sentiment reaching critical levels. It’s almost like he was trying to keep his whereabouts unknown to his own government. Right? And that bullsh-t little YouTube video thing? It had been out for…what – months? Nobody gave a sh-t about it. NOBODY.

But then it is being used as the spark to start the fire? Who did that? Who would want to get those sand…get those people are riled up like that? And the administration – they are saying it was that video right out of the gate, right? Like it was a packaged excuse ready to go. Packaged means it was part of something bigger. A bigger plan, right?

Karate Kalila

It's not every day that you read about something like this in a Muslim country.
From the Daily News:
A mouthy Iranian cleric spent three days in the hospital after he was savagely beaten by a woman he criticized for having her head partly uncovered, state news reported.

Hojatoleslam Ali Beheshti, a mid-level cleric in the northern province of Semnan, was on his way to a mosque in the town of Shahmirza when he spotted the woman's veil looking loose and warned her to cover up, Mehr news agency reported.

"You cover your eyes," she shot back according to the news agency.
Now she drops into a fighting stance and starts her kata. Then again, with all that covering material, it could have been Khalil the Couscous Cross Dresser underneath the veil. Whomever it was, poor Ali Beheshti's world is about to come crashing down around his keffiyeh.
When Beheshti repeated the warning, the woman got aggressive, the cleric said.

"Not only didn't she cover herself up, but she also insulted me. I asked her not to insult me anymore, but she started shouting and threatening me," Beheshti said.

"She pushed me and I fell to the ground on my back," he continued.

"From that point on, I don't know what happened. I was just feeling the kicks of the woman who was beating me up and insulting me."

Behshti said he spent three days in the hospital after the beat-down.
Makes you think how different the world might be right now if only a woman with martial arts training had been around to kick the Prophet's ass some 1400 years ago.

IG Report On Fast And Furious

One official has resigned and another has retired in the wake of a report published by the DOJ's Office of the Inspector General on the botched "Fast and Furious" gun walking operation that provided the weapons that killed U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agent Brian Terry.
A bombshell report released Wednesday on Operation Fast and Furious faulted a range of federal agencies for the failed anti-gunrunning program and accused officials in charge of a "disregard" for public safety. In the wake of the report, one Justice Department official resigned and another retired.

The sprawling report by the department's inspector general is the most comprehensive account yet on the deadly operation which allowed weapons to "walk" across the U.S.-Mexico border and resulted in hundreds of firearms turning up at crime scenes in both countries.

The report says Attorney General Eric Holder was not made aware of potential flaws in the program until February of last year. But the report cites 14 other department employees -- including Criminal Division head Lanny Breuer -- for potential wrongdoing, recommending the department consider disciplinary action against them.

One congressional source told Fox News the report was "more brutal than was expected."

The report marked Jason Weinstein, the deputy assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division, as the highest-ranking DOJ employee in a position to stop the program. Weinstein, who disputes the findings, is resigning in the wake of the report.

Another official criticized for not asking enough questions about the Furious operation, former ATF acting director Kenneth Melson, retired after the report came down.

The nearly 500-page report was completed after investigators reviewed 100,000 documents and interviewed 130 people.

Honey, Would You Make Room For The Carrots?

Where else but in California would you find a guy who stuffs his wife in a Crock Pot™ for four days. From the LA Times:
A Los Angeles-area chef on trial in his wife's slaying told authorities the reason they couldn't find her body was because he slow-cooked it for days, then disposed of the remains.

David Viens' wife, Dawn Viens, disappeared in October 2009. In March 2011, David Viens told sheriff's investigators why they hadn't been able to find the body of his wife, who'd been missing for nearly a year and half.

"I just slowly cooked it and I ended up cooking her for four days," said Viens, a chef who ran a restaurant in Lomita, according to an interview played for jurors Tuesday.

Viens had already told investigators that, one October night in 2009, he taped his wife's mouth and bound her hands and feet with duct tape. The next morning, Dawn Viens was dead. That account is strikingly similar to what David Viens later told his daughter and ex-girlfriend, who testified for the prosecution last week.

Sgt. Richard Garcia asked Viens what happened the night of Oct. 18, the last time his wife was seen.

"For some reason I just got violent," Viens said, according to an interview played for a Los Angeles jury Tuesday.

In the second of two interviews Viens gave to investigators in March 2011, he said he stuffed his wife's lifeless body into a 55-gallon drum of boiling water and kept it submerged with weights. After four days, he mixed much of what remained with other waste and then disposed of it.

The only thing left, Viens said in the interview, was his wife's skull. He said he stashed it at his mother's house. Authorities scoured his mother's attic but found nothing.

After 55 Years, Cold Case Investigation Gets Hot

A 72 year old murder finally gets convicted for the killing of 7 year old "Pretty" Maria, in 1955. From the UK Telegraph:
A former police officer was today finally found guilty of the abduction and murder of a seven-year-old girl 55 years ago.

The conviction of Jack McCullough, 72, represents the longest cold case in history after a DNA breakthrough placed him at the scene of the abduction of Maria Ridulph in 1957.

Maria's mother died without seeing justice for her daughter's slaying - a case that caused so much of a national outcry that President Eisenhower and FBI director J Edgar Hoover demanded daily updates.

McCullough, 18 at the time, was initially considered a suspect when the young girl's decomposed remains were found a year after she disappeared. But he had been ruled out thanks to a fabricated alibi, and thought he had got away with the terrible crime for most of his life.

It's TimeTo Pack Up and Go Home

 Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley Jr.
Murdered by an Afghan police officer

Enough is enough. Stop trying to establish democratic principles in a nation that is still mired in 7th century tribalism and whose people will not help themselves.

Don't read this article  if you're taking heart medication.
From the UK Telegraph:
'I waited until they took off their body armor off... and then I shot them dead:' Chilling account of 'green on blue' attack by Afghan who killed two U.S. soldiers

An Afghan man has confessed to shooting dead two American soldiers who were training him as a police officer in an attack which took place three years ago.

In a chilling and candid account, the unidentified man said he had waited until Sergeant Aaron Smith and Private First Class Brandon Owens had taken off their body armour before calmly gunning them down in Wardak Province, central Afghanistan.

His confession comes just a day after four American soldiers were gunned down by Afghan police at a checkpoint in a similar incident. The latest in a spate of so-called green-on-blue attacks.

Two British troops were also killed at a checkpoint at a different base in the south of the country on Sunday.
Spray their poppy fields with Agent Orange and let them fight over the rubble. Let them use their athletic arenas as killing fields, it's their stinking country, let them rot in it.

Hitting Them Where It Hurts

"Hey Mr. Editor! I can't give this shit away!"

I had an on-again, off-again relationship with the printed media for about thirty years. I would subscribe to the paper then cancel, re-up and cancel. The last straw was the Obama orgasm back in 2008. No more. Why should I pay to read lies about that worthless POS?

Apparently many others have reached the same decision and it has affected the print media right where it should - in their wallets. The following chart is from the Business Insider. It illustrates the industry's dwindling advertising revenues; I believe that as the media departed from reality, the dollars followed suite.

But then again:
Journalism professor Jay Rosen of NYU observes that the peak year was the one in which blogging software first appeared.
So, is it due to their Obama leg-humping and their constant drumbeat of leftist propaganda? You decide, but their profits seem to have started their precipitous fall right around 2008.

Looky here:
